A. Higher Secondary Programme
1. Science Stream
Compulsory subjects :
i) English
ii) Modern Indian Language (Assamese)/ Alternative English.
Elective subjects :Any three subjects(and a forth subject if the students want)from the following list
i) Physics
ii) Chemistry / Economics
iii) Mathematics
iv) Biology / Statistics
v) Anthropology / Computer Science and Application
Note : Mathematics is compulsory for students taking up statistics as an elective subject.
2. Arts Stream
Compulsory subjects :
i) English
ii) Modern Indian Language (Assamese) / Alternative English
Elective subjects :Any three subjects(and a fourth subject if the students want)from the following list
i) Economics
ii) Political Science / Statistics
iii) Education
iv) Logic & Philosophy / Geography / Mathematics
v) Advance Assamese / Anthropology / History / Computer Science and Application.
Note : For students who want to take up Computer Science and Application, it is not compulsory to study Mathematics as another elective subject.
B. Under - Graduate Programme
a) B.Sc. Course
b) B.A. Course

Compulsory subjects :
i) General and Functional English ( for 1st year only)
ii) Environmental Studies (for 2nd year only).
Students offering a major course have to take up two elective subject in addition to the major subject from the following combinations.

ii) Mathematics and Computer Science
2.Chemistry i) Mathematics and Physics
ii) Mathematics and Computer Science
3.Mathematics i) Physics and Chemistry
ii) Physics and Computer Science
iii) Statistics and Economics
4. Botany i) Chemistry and Zoology
ii) Chemistry and Anthropology
5. Zoology i) Chemistry and Botany
ii) Chemistry and Anthropology
6.Anthropology i) Botany and Zoology
7. Economics i)Mathematics and Statistics
Students offering general course can choose any one from the following combinations:

ii) Physics, Mathematics, Statistics
iii) Chemistry, Botany, Zoology
iv) Botany, Zoology, Anthropology
v) Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science
vi) Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science

In order to study the corresponding subject in the left hand column, a student must have secured the pass marks in the subject(s) mentioned in the right hand column below in the Higher Secondary Examination.

Only the students securing pass mark in Mathematics in the Higher Secondary Examination can take up Mathematics in Degree Course.
